Secret Golf Training Aid

The Secret golf training aid is one of the simplest products on the market to prevent wrist breakdown while hitting balls. Developed in the 1970's by John Schlee, The Secret golf training aid was reintroduced to the golfing world by Peter Albertson and subsequently endorsed by Greg Norman. The version you are viewing today is the Greg Norman endorsed edition which is a medium sized product that should fit most adults. The original Schlee men's model was about 20% bigger.

The product is made from a durable ABS plastic with a neoprene backing for added comfort. One of the appeals of The Secret is that it is very easy to put on and take off since you just stick your index finger in the finger strap and wrap the elastic wrist strap around your wrist once and press it down to secure. The angle is preset at about 40 degrees.

The Secret golf training aid is ideal for use around the greens for a few reasons. The 40 degree angle makes it difficult to get into a proper setup position for full swing but for chipping and pitching, a little forward press of the shaft feels more natural. In addition, in the full swing the right wrist (for right-handed players) will straighten out substantially post impact and this will put some strain on the index finger. While this is not likely an issue short term, long term use of The Secret golf training aid for hitting full shots is not advised. If anything, you might consider hitting balls at 50% with an abbreviated backswing and follow-through.

The Secret comes with printed instructions and is available right or left-handed. Suitable for ages 10 and up, The Secret is a great short game aid and may be used with a traditional putting stroke to prevent wrist breakdown.

Available both right and left-handed. The right-handed model is for right-handed players.
